Callidus is a very fine old lady, designed by Norman E Dallimore and built by the Harry King & Son’s of Pin Mill, Suffolk in 1952. She has been a recognisable yacht on the East Coast for many years as she was used as a sail training yacht by a local business until 2015.
At 11.5 tons Callidus is an extremely capable sailing yacht, built from a wood carvel construction of larch on oak frames with a teak deck – built like a fortress! Fitted with a Perkins 35hp diesel engine, which was rebuilt in 2016, she is able to not just sail in anything but motor through it too.
Callidus offers spacious accommodation for 5 guests to sleep in 2 cabins (1 double and 3 single berths), a heads and galley for extended cruising.
After changing hands a few times and being the subject of an extensive refit by her last owner, Callidus is now in need of a helping hand as her current owner has been unable to care for her due to health and restrictions from the past year.
As can be seen by the pictures she will need recommissioning, varnishing, painting and tidying up – But all the important bits are there to get you sailing.
