The Birchwood Boat Company was founded in the late 60’s and was originally based in Huthwaite, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottingham. They were a prolific builder of motorcruisers ranging from 18ft to 42ft.
The largest boat they built back in 1984 was the Birchwood 42 Empress and was their flagship motor cruiser perfect for weekends away and long distance cruising.

Boatshed Essex are delighted to feature this delightful Sailing Barge, packed with history, modernisation, comfort and performance.
Built in 1905, by Humphrey and Grey, in iron, she was a bonded, spirit barge, mainly carrying tea. (unrigged). She had sweeps to navigate on the tides fitted, also with a rudder and tiller steering.
